Antigua Tabletop Laterns, $10-$25 World Market My hot summer nights call for unwinding after a long day on my back porch. Nothing relaxes me more than lighting a candle and burning my favorite incence. We're decking out our patio this summer in cool Mediterranean colors with a boho flair. I absolutely love these candle lanterns because they illuminate in different colors when you have the candles lit. I can't wait to set them up around our tiny porch to create the perfect at home oasis. We DIY Divas love to take ordinary items and give them a better purpose. We took the wine bottles and cast off vases and gave them new life with rope, string and colored cord. Add in flowers and presto you've got a centerpiece. Every girl needs a go-to shoe. For me, this summer, it's these color blocked wedges. I love that they are a neutral color that I can pair with a variety of different looks. They're super stylish and surprisingly comfortable. I've already taken them out for a night of dancing and a long day of graduation events. I'm proud to report back that any gal would be happy to sport them on a summer getaway or even for a date night with the ladies. Summer is already here and I'm on a tight fitness schedule to get my body ready for the season's pool parties and beach days. I've grown to like destination running. So whether I'm hiking up Runyon Canyon or working up a seaside sweat, leggings are my go-to workout attire. The energy capri tights from Vipe are by far my favorite! They're lightweight, comfortable and fit in just the right places. The small pocket makes it covenient to hold my house key as I take a quick jog around the park. And Vipe's tech tank has a cut out in the back that keeps me ventilated during my workouts. The material keeps me cool even though I'm breaking a sweat. Wearing them both I feel sleek and ready to take on any workout. Bring it on! Stripe High Waist Swim set, $56 American Apparel I love high waisted bathing suits because they create such a curvy silhouette without showing off too much. American Apparel has a great selection of styles and colors that you can mix and match with. I personally love to pair their high waisted bottoms with a fun colored top from Target or H&M. Shimmer Effect Lotion, $8 Target Scarf, $8 H&M A day at the beach can leave my hair wild and crazy and with the temperatures rising, I want my hair up and out of my face. Wrapping a scarf around your locks is a great way to stay cool and still rock some style while your beach/pool side. And while I'm out soaking up some sun or dancing at a summer festival I have to make sure I don't burn! I love that this sunscreen has a bronze shimmer that gives that sun kissed glow. Bustier Georgette Maxi Dress, $148 BCBG Havanna Clutch, $88 J.Crew With a friend's beach style wedding coming up, I'm planning gifts and of course an outfit for the occasion I love this bright coral dress because the color reminds me of a beautiful summer sunset. It has a sexy silhouette with still enough room to get down for a night of dancing with the bride. I'd slap some bangles on with the woven clutch to create a perfect pairing for seaside style. For you seniors, graduation is the most important moment in your educational career. And although your big day is all about celebrating what you’ve accomplished, why not go out in style? Come graduation you’ll be sitting awaiting your name to be called, but most importantly you’ll be taking your first steps into the real world. So you’ve got to look for all those photos that are going up on Instagram and Facebook. Most of your outfit will be covered for your five seconds of fame. You might want to consider opting for shoes that have a pop of color or accent since you’ll be walking across the stage.Just remember, don’t trip and practice that pageant wave or victory dance for your big moment. Your Graduation Go-To’s… GentlemenSay this with me… cotton and color! Cotton garments will keep you cool and help keep you from totally sweating up your look. Gingham is a checkered pattern that is a trend to try for guys. Opt for rich colors like red and blue or green over dark greys and blacks. Roll up the sleeves and pair it with a skinny tie for that polished look that screams “hire me!” With the time spent waiting under the sun, don’t bother layering with a blazer under your gown. If you’re going out to a celebration lunch or dinner after the ceremony you can always bring your sports coat or jacket along with you for all those photos. Pair your look with bold colored oxfords like bright red or blue. Yes, it’s okay to play the match game when it comes to a celebration like graduation. The style is classic, polished and will definitely have you stand out amongst a crowd. LadiesGo for glam with a statement necklace or a set of great bangles to show off as you wave to your guests. That grad cap gives major hat hair! So go with a hairstyle that will still look cute after the ceremony. A long braid with loose curls says finished and fabulous! Make sure to use lots of bobby pins to secure it in place. When it comes to footwear, opt for wedges over heels so you don’t have to worry about sinking in the grass. Metallics are a great accent to any look and they’ll stand out as you walk across the ceremonial runway. To stay cool under your gown, wear flowy dresses or skirts that are fitted at the waist and cascade down the legs. A high-low skirt and a short sleeved patterned blouse is a perfect combo to stay cool yet still stylish. If your celebration occasion calls for a more dressed up look, you can always swap out the wedges for a high heel and throw on a nude blazer to top off your look. |
